Meet Amanda (Mandy) D. Wollitz
Leadership in our field is not limited to titles. Pharmacists lead through the decisions they make, the systems they influence, and the care they help deliver. My leadership has been shaped by a career grounded in medication safety and regulatory compliance, where I have seen firsthand how clear standards, reliable systems, and thoughtful oversight empower teams to deliver safe, consistent care with confidence. Over time, this work has reinforced what teams need most to succeed: clear expectations, practical tools, a sense of belonging and purpose, and systems that make it easy to do the right thing. ASHP and particularly the Section of Pharmacy Practice Leaders creates this same foundation by fostering shared learning, open communication, and accessible resources that support leaders at every stage. As health-system pharmacy continues to evolve, strong and adaptable leaders enable safety, quality, and practice advancement to progress together. As we face shortages, burnout, and rapid change, it is critical we focus on strengthening the leaders who carry the work. Sustainable progress requires removing barriers, reducing complexity, and turning standards into practical tools leaders can apply every day. I am excited for the opportunity to support and advance this work through service and leadership within the Section of Pharmacy Practice Leaders. If elected Director-at-Large, I will champion SPPL’s commitment to effective resource management, staff development, and pharmacist-led patient care because when leaders are supported, patients and teams are safer.
