Meet Amanda M. Popko
The evolving healthcare landscape presents a critical opportunity for pharmacy leaders to redefine the role of pharmacists in advancing patient care, improving access, and ensuring sustainable healthcare delivery. I believe pharmacy practice must move beyond traditional models to fully integrate pharmacists as essential providers within multidisciplinary teams, practicing at the top of their training. My leadership philosophy centers on three priorities: access, outcomes, and sustainability. Expanding pharmacist-led care models improves access to therapy and alleviates provider burden, while enabling more efficient and timely care for patients. At the same time, pharmacy leaders must demonstrate measurable value through improved clinical outcomes, enhanced patient experience, and responsible stewardship of healthcare resources. I am particularly passionate about developing scalable, system-level strategies that align clinical excellence with financial sustainability. Through integrated specialty and ambulatory care models, pharmacy can play a pivotal role in optimizing medication use, supporting population health, and driving long-term organizational success. Equally important is investing in people. Empowering pharmacists through leadership development, innovation, and meaningful engagement fosters a culture where teams can thrive and continuously improve care delivery. I am committed to advancing pharmacy practice and am honored to be slated as a candidate for Director-at-Large. I look forward to the opportunity to contribute to advancing priorities of the Section and the profession.
