In this interview-panel of 4 student pharmacist leaders, we will discuss how they have promoted practice advancement within their schools of pharmacy, as well as the successes and room for improvement they have identified within their chapter for future implementation. We will dive deep into how other SSHP leaders can utilize these examples to successfully implement PAI 2030 initiatives at their chapter.

SPEAKERS

Meina DetermanMeina Determan (she/her) is a third year pharmacy student at Texas A&M University School of Pharmacy. She is currently the president of the Texas A&M SSHP chapter and has been a member going on three years. Her current interests within pharmacy include leadership, infectious disease, and pediatrics. Outside of pharmacy she enjoys going on hikes, playing tennis, and hanging out with family and friends.

Elissa ChungElissa Chung, BS, (she/her) received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from California State University, Fullerton, and is currently a PharmD Candidate Class of 2024 from Washington State University School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. She is a student member of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) Council of Pharmacy Management and has also served as the ASHP SSHP Yakima chapter president, hosting Practice Advancement Initiative-focused professional events and local health fairs as past president.

Lucy ChaeLucy Chae (she/her) is a first-generation college student and an immigrant from the Republic of South Korea. She completed her Bachelor of Biomedical Science degree from Auburn University and is currently pursuing a Doctor of Pharmacy degree at Auburn University Harrison College of Pharmacy. Her areas of interest include cardiology, critical care, and solid organ transplants. She actively participates in the local SSHP chapter as well as ASHP, Phi Lambda Sigma, and Rho Chi. Apart from pharmacy, Lucy enjoys watching movies, painting by numbers, and spending time with her friends.

Heather HowellHeather Howell (she/her) is a final-year Doctor of Pharmacy student at the University of Texas at El Paso and chair of the ASHP Pharmacy Student Forum Executive Committee. During her time in pharmacy school, she has remained actively involved in several organizations both locally and nationally. Upon graduating, Heather is pursuing an acute care residency with Memorial Medical Center, with hopes of staying on to complete a PGY2 in Emergency Medicine.
