Important Clarification About the 1-Year Pharmacotherapy Recertification Plan
The 1-Year Pharmacotherapy Recertification Plan is not designed to provide the full number of recertification credit hours required for BCPS recertification over a 12-month period. Instead, it is intended for pharmacists who:
- Want to explore ASHP’s recertification resources before committing to a 3-Year Plan, or
- Need to earn a portion of the required recertification credit (for example, approximately 50 hours) during the final year of their recertification cycle.
The standard BCPS recertification requirement (100-120 recertification credit hours depending on certification year) typically cannot be met with only a 1-year plan alone. For pharmacists seeking to earn a larger number of recertification hours more efficiently, the 3-Year Recertification Plan is often more appropriate and cost-effective.
Program Agreement and Cancellation Clause
The Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS) has rules regarding CE redemption for recertification courses and other activities. For details, please visit the recertification page for your specialty.
