Hello, New Practitioners!
As the weather begins to cool and we settle into fall, I hope you are doing well—whether you are navigating residency or settling into a new practitioner role. It is an exciting and eventful time of year, and we are especially looking forward to the ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting, taking place December 6–9 in Orlando, Florida.
As new practitioners, we are in a formative and exciting chapter of our careers as we expand our knowledge, strengthen our skills, and shape our professional paths. Midyear offers many sessions to support that growth, including When You Wish Upon a Job: Navigating Career Advancement and Rejection; Presenting and Publishing Research: Tips, Tricks, and Strategies for Success; and Fact-Checking the Future: Comparing Tertiary References and AI for Drug Information Accuracy.
In that same spirit of professional growth and community, the New Practitioners Forum Executive Committee (NPFEC) will host the New Practitioner Networking Session on Sunday, December 6, from 2:30–3:30 p.m. We would love to see you there! Join us to meet fellow new practitioners, exchange perspectives on our journeys so far, and build meaningful connections that extend well beyond Midyear.
Before we gather at Midyear, we will celebrate our profession during National Pharmacy Week, October 18–24. This week is an opportunity to recognize pharmacists’ far-reaching impact on patient care and highlight the integral role we play on the healthcare team. If you are looking for ways to be a catalyst for positive change in your workplace, ASHP’s Preceptor Toolkit, Career Bridge, and Advocacy Toolkit offer valuable resources to support your professional development and engagement.
Through our NPF meetings so far, we have seen no shortage of passion, creativity, and innovation across the new practitioner community. We are grateful for the energy and perspectives you bring as we collaborate on initiatives and advance our profession. If you are interested in becoming more involved with the New Practitioners Forum and helping shape the future of pharmacy practice, consider applying for an ASHP Council or NPF Executive Committee position by November 13, 2026.
We hope to see many of you at Midyear and look forward to connecting with you throughout the year. Until then, keep taking initiative, building connections, and finding meaningful ways to serve those around you as you continue to grow in your new practitioner journey!
