Elizabeth A. Wade, PharmD, CPPS, FASHP

Elizabeth A. Wade is the system director for medication safety, quality, and compliance at Dartmouth Health. Prior to this, she served as the patient safety officer for Amazon Pharmacy, leading the development of the patient safety program, medication safety officer at Concord Hospital in New Hampshire, serving as the first medication safety officer in the state, and medication safety officer for Adult Med/Surg at The Johns Hopkins Hospital. She completed both PGY1 pharmacy practice and PGY2 medication-use safety residencies at The Johns Hopkins Hospital. She works closely with the Institute for Safe Medication Practices.

Wade's ASHP involvement includes serving as chair for the Section of Inpatient Care Practitioners Section Advisory Group on Medication Safety and as a member for 10 years, delegate from New Hampshire to the ASHP House of Delegates for 7 years, and member of the Council on Pharmacy Practice for 3 years. She is faculty for the ASHP medication safety and well-being and resilience certificate programs. She served as president of the New Hampshire state chapter and on the board of directors for 10 years. She was a founding member and president of Northeastern University's student ASHP chapter.

Immediate Past Chair (2026-2027)

Molly J. Billstein Leber, PharmD, MBA, BCPS, FASHP

Molly J. Billstein Leber is Director of Pharmaceutical Policy and Procurement at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. In this role, she provides leadership for drug-use policy, formulary management, and pharmaceutical sourcing, with responsibilities spanning budget mitigation, medication safety initiatives, regulatory compliance, and payment controls. Prior to her current role, Dr. Leber practiced as a critical care pharmacist in medical, surgical, and neurosurgical intensive care units. She earned her PharmD from the University of Montana, completed a PGY1 pharmacy residency at Yale New Haven Hospital, completed the ASHP Pharmacy Leadership Academy, and earned a Master of Business Administration from New England College. Dr. Leber has been an active member of ASHP for more than 20 years. Her service includes serving as a House of Delegates representative from Connecticut; participating in Section of Inpatient Care Practitioners advisory groups focused on medication safety, small and rural hospitals, and advancing pharmacy practice with technicians; and contributing to the New Practitioners Forum. She previously served as Director-at-Large for the Section of Inpatient Care Practitioners and has been appointed to the Council on Pharmacy Practice, the Council on Education and Workforce Development, and the ASHP Committee on Nominations. She has also served as a moderator and presenter at multiple Midyear Clinical Meetings, supported the development of several ASHP guidelines, and is recognized as a Fellow of ASHP. Dr. Leber has held additional national leadership roles and has served on the Board of the Connecticut Society of Health-System Pharmacists.

Chair Elect (2026-2027)

Indrani Kar, PharmD, DPLA, FASHP 

Indrani Kar is the system pharmacy manager, formulary and drug policy at University Hospitals Health System (UH) in northeast Ohio and residency program director for the PGY2 in medication use safety and policy. Over the past 11 years, she has developed and implemented systemwide infrastructure for adult and pediatric formularies, ambulatory medication management, and medication policy across the 16 hospital health system. She manages UH’s ACPE continuing education program, precepts learners (APPE/PGY1/PGY2), and leads a team of four. Indrani earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy. She completed a drug information fellowship at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Pharmacy and a PGY2 drug information residency at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital and Rutgers, Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy. Her service to ASHP includes the Council on Therapeutics and the Section of Inpatient Care Practitioners (SICP), including member and leadership roles in the Educational Steering Committee and advisory groups on Medication Management and Medication Safety, as well as director-at-large of the SICP Executive Committee. She contributes to ASHP webinars and publications, serves as a session and CV reviewer, and leads an annual session on the Innovations in Drug Information and Research at the Midyear Clinical Meeting. She is junior faculty for the ASHP Foundation’s Pharmacy Leadership Academy and an ASHP student mentor. She is active in the Ohio Society of Health-System Pharmacy (OSHP), recently completed service as a delegate, and was recognized as OSHP Preceptor of the Year and Fellow of ASHP in 2025.

C. Whitney White, PharmD, BCPS, FALSHP, FASHP

C. Whitney White is a professor of pharmacy practice at Samford University McWhorter School of Pharmacy. She is also a clinical pharmacist practitioner within the Birmingham VA Health Care System. She earned a Bachelor of Science in biology from Mississippi College and a Doctor of Pharmacy from Samford University McWhorter School of Pharmacy. She completed a PGY1 pharmacy practice residency at Huntsville Hospital. Her career has included practice in both acute and ambulatory care settings, where she has helped to expand the footprint of pharmacy practice by implementing pharmacist-led gout and osteoporosis clinics as well as establishing new rounding services and innovative practice models which involve pharmacy learners.

White has been an active member of ASHP since completing residency and has served in many leadership roles. She is a past chair of the Council on Education and Workforce Development and past chair of the Section of Inpatient Care Practitioners (SICP) Educational Steering Committee (ESC). She has been a member of the SICP ESC for many years, helping to create various educational tools and resources for ASHP members. She has also served as a delegate from Alabama to the ASHP House of Delegates for many years and is passionate about advocacy for the pharmacy profession.

Mary Pat Thomas (Bulfin), PharmD, BCPS, CPHQ

Mary Pat Thomas (Bulfin) is a Medication Safety Pharmacist at UVA Health in Charlottesville, Virginia. She earned her Doctorate of Pharmacy from the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy and completed a PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center, followed by a PGY2 Medication Use Safety and Policy residency at the University of Kentucky. Dr. Thomas is a Board-Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist (BCPS) and a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ). Prior to joining UVA Health, she served as a Medication Safety Pharmacist at the Cleveland Clinic Main Campus in Cleveland, Ohio. In her current role, Dr. Thomas focuses on quality and process improvement through medication safety event reporting, proactive evaluation and investigation, and precepting learners. She is deeply committed to fostering a culture of safety and continuous learning, and she serves as an ASHP Well-Being Ambassador. She also holds the ASHP Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Professional Certificate. A collaborative leader, Dr. Thomas thrives on building interprofessional partnerships that drive system-level improvements through creativity, positivity, and patient-centered care. Her leadership with ASHP includes serving as the 2023-2024 Chair of the Section of Inpatient Care Practitioners (SICP) Educational Steering Committee. Dr. Thomas has contributed to numerous ASHP initiatives, including national conference proposals, podcasts, and webinars.

Ryan J. Hannan, PharmD, MBA, BCPS

Ryan J. Hannan is a clinical pharmacist at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. His practice crosses internal medicine, cardiology, and central pharmacy operations. He holds a Doctor of Pharmacy and a Master of Business Administration from Drake University and completed PGY1 and PGY2 residency training in health-system pharmacy administration and leadership at Advocate Health. Hannan earned the academic rank of instructor in pharmacy within the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science, reflecting his commitment to education, mentorship, and professional development. His professional focus centers on patient-centered care supported by strong, well-designed systems, with particular emphasis on quality and safety, strategic planning, advocacy, workforce well-being, and practice sustainability. His work is informed by experience across a diverse spectrum of pharmacy practice settings and perspectives, contributing to a comprehensive understanding of how health systems operate and evolve.

As an active member of ASHP, Hannan has served in numerous roles, including chair of the Section of Inpatient Care Practitioners (SICP) Educational Steering Committee, section advisory group member, and CV reviewer. He is currently serving his second year as alternate delegate to the ASHP House of Delegates representing Minnesota. His educational contributions through ASHP include conference programming, AJHP publication, podcasts, and national meeting platforms. At the state level, Hannan has held multiple leadership roles within the Minnesota Society of Health-System Pharmacists, including service as an affiliate society president and conference planning co-chair. His committee memberships have included advocacy, finance, and education. Through collaborative leadership and service, Hannan is committed to advancing the profession and strengthening pharmacy’s impact on patient care nationwide.

ASHP Staff

Rena Sackett, PharmD, BCPS

Rena Sackett serves as Director, Member Relations at the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP). In this role, she acts as the liaison for the Section of Inpatient Care Practitioners and leads the development and implementation of programs and initiatives for the Section. Prior to this role, she completed ASHP’s Executive Fellowship in Association Leadership and Management.

She completed a PGY1 Pharmacy Residency at UPMC Western Psychiatric Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 2020 and earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Loma Linda University School of Pharmacy in 2019. She completed an elective rotation in national association management with ASHP and has served in a number of volunteer leadership capacities including as a delegate for the California Society of Health-System Pharmacists and volunteer on the Membership Committee for the Western Chapter of Pennsylvania Society of Health-System Pharmacists.
